A happy trekker at EBC.
Mount Everest, the world's tallest mountain at 8,848 metres, may be Nepal's most well know attraction. As such, the Everest Base Camp (EBC) trek is one of the most popular treks in Nepal. The EBC trek is about more than just following in the footsteps of the world's greatest mountaineers. It is a journey through a rich tapestry of history, culture and tradition. The whole region is inhabited by Sherpa people, an ethnic group of Nepal, internationally revered for their strength and mountaineering feats. They are the tigers of the mountain.
Generally regarded to be a challenging trek, but Everest has its own charm. If taking in the breathtaking vistas of towering snowcapped peaks is what drives you to Nepal then the Everest region is where you will find it. The proposed itinerary below includes a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,800 mtrs); however, the longer option to trek all the way from Jiri is also available, if preferred.
