GOSAIKUNDA
Lake Gosaikunda is a high altitude lake (4390mtrs) in the Langtang region. Known throughout the Hindu world as Shiva's holy lake, the site attracts pilgrims from all over, especially during the August Full Moon Festival when local apprentice Shamans come to worship Shiva through song and dance, prove their powers and become a full Shaman. The trek is one of the most accessible from Kathmandu, as we walk right from the northern edge of the city, through the Shivapuri National Park and into the Langtang National Park. The trek ends in Dhunche, and can be combined with other treks in the Langtang region.
